What Your Body Knows: Decision Fatigue

Week 20: Decision Fatigue

BodyParalysis

When you can't decide, where does it show in your body?

Decision fatigue in the body:

  • **Head:** Foggy, heavy, spinning
  • **Eyes:** Tired, unfocused, wanting to close
  • **Shoulders:** Slumped, heavy, defeated
  • **Chest:** Tight, compressed, anxious
  • **Stomach:** Churning, unsettled
  • **Whole body:** Frozen, unable to move in any direction

This is decision fatigue made physical. Your body signals what your mind is too tired to articulate.

A body-based decision break:

When you notice these signs:

1. Stop choosing. Whatever you're deciding, put it aside.

2. Move. Walk, stretch, shake your body. Physical movement clears mental fog.

3. Nourish. Eat something if you haven't. Blood sugar affects willpower.

4. Rest your eyes. Close them or look at something distant (not a screen).

5. Breathe. Five slow breaths, exhale longer than inhale.

6. Return later. The decision will still be there. You'll be fresher.

Your body knows when it's depleted. Trust it. Step back. Decide later.
