A Small Step: Self-Love Rebellion

Today's practice: take yourself on a tiny date.

Not "self-care" as an afterthought. Not filling time until something better comes along.

An intentional, attention-filled moment of treating yourself like someone you're courting.

How to date yourself:

Pick one small experience today that brings you joy. Do it with full presence, as if wooing yourself.

Ideas:

  • Buy yourself a single beautiful flower
  • Make a cup of tea and drink it slowly, no phone
  • Take a walk somewhere pretty, just for the pleasure of it
  • Cook one dish you love, plate it nicely
  • Light a candle and listen to music that moves you
  • Buy a small treat and eat it without guilt
  • Write yourself a love note

The key: do it with intention. Not as filling time. As an act of love.

Bonus practice:

Before or during your self-date, say:

"I'm doing this because I deserve attention and tenderness. I'm practicing treating myself as worthy of love."

This might feel awkward. That's okay. Self-love is a skill. Skills get better with practice.

When grief has made you forget you deserve tenderness, Grief Compass Journal can help you remember.
