Rest Day: Revenge Bedtime Procrastination

All week we talked about revenge bedtime procrastination.

Tonight, the opposite: early bed as self-gift.

The practice:

Tonight, go to bed 1 hour earlier than usual.

Not as punishment for staying up late.
Not as compensation for lost sleep.
As a gift. Because you deserve rest.

Your early bedtime ritual:

  1. 1 hour before bed: Phone goes away. Another room. Charging.

  2. 30 minutes before: Dim lights. Gentle activity—reading, stretching, nothing stimulating.

  3. 15 minutes before: Hygiene routine. Comfortable clothes.

  4. At bedtime: Into bed. Lights off. No screens.

  5. If thoughts race: Focus on breath. Or use a sound machine. Or just let thoughts float without engaging.

Permission:

Everything else can wait. The emails, the shows, the scrolling—none of it needs you tonight.

What needs you is: rest.

Go to bed early. Wake up feeling the difference. Remember what rest feels like.
