The Science Behind: Quiet Quitting
Why does leaving on time feel impossible?
Maybe because of Parkinson's Law.
The Law:
"Work expands to fill the time available for its completion."
If you give yourself 8 hours to write a report, it takes 8 hours.
If you give yourself 2 hours, it takes 2 hours.
It's not magic. It's human psychology. When we have extra time, we dwell, procrastinate, over-perfect, and complicate.
The constraint benefit:
Paradoxically, "quiet quitting" (limiting hours) can make you MORE effective.
When you know you leave at 5:00 PM no matter what:
- You prioritize ruthlessly
- You cut unnecessary meetings
- You stop scrolling
- You focus on high-impact tasks
Constraints force focus. Infinite time encourages waste.
The science says:
Shorter work (with boundaries) often yields equal or higher quality output than unlimited hours.
You're not doing less. You're doing it better.
Inner Spark Recovery leverages constraints for balance.
