A Small Step: Invisible Burnout

Week 9: Invisible Burnout

ActionResilience

Maybe you can't quit your job. Can't take a sabbatical. Can't disappear into the mountains for a month of healing.

But you can start recovery today—with one tiny practice.

The concept: Micro-Recovery

You don't need a week off to begin healing. Small moments of genuine rest, repeated consistently, can start reversing burnout.

The key word is genuine. Scrolling your phone is not rest. Watching TV while answering emails is not rest.

Real micro-recovery means: brief moments of complete, intentional pause.

Your micro-recovery practice:

5-5-5 Breathing, twice daily:

Set two alarms today (maybe 10am and 3pm).

When they go off:

1. Stop everything

2. Breathe in for 5 counts

3. Hold for 5 counts

4. Exhale for 5 counts

5. Repeat 5 times

Total time: about 2 minutes

During this time, you are not doing anything else. Not thinking about work. Not planning. Just breathing.

This signals to your nervous system: "We're safe. We can rest."

Twice a day. Every day. It's small, but it's real.

When full recovery seems impossible, Inner Spark Recovery can help you start micro.
