A Small Step: Redefining Success

Week 24: Redefining Success

ActionSelf-Worth

Time to write your own definition—one that's actually yours.

Creating your success statement:

Step 1: List what matters

What do you actually value? Not what society says. Not what your parents wanted. What do YOU care about?

  • Relationships? Creativity? Health? Adventure? Peace? Learning?

Step 2: Define success in those terms

For each value, what would success look like?

  • Relationships → Meaningful connections, quality time
  • Creativity → Regular creative practice, not fame
  • Health → Feeling good, not looking perfect

Step 3: Write your statement

"For me, success means _______________."

Example: "For me, success means showing up authentically, nurturing my relationships, and doing work that matters to me—regardless of external recognition."

Keep it visible:

Post it somewhere you'll see. When comparison or anxiety hits, read it.

Are you failing by society's definition? Maybe.

Are you succeeding by your own? Check your statement. Maybe you're doing better than you thought.

Inner Spark Recovery helps you live your own definition.
