The Myth of: Songkran Retreat

Week 16: Songkran Retreat

MythInner Child

Here's a myth that makes post-holiday exhaustion even worse:

"Holidays are for rest. You should feel refreshed afterward. If you're tired, you did it wrong."

This myth makes us feel guilty for needing recovery after supposed "relaxation."

The truth about holiday exhaustion:

Holidays are often MORE tiring than regular life. Think about what they involve:

  • Travel (planning, packing, logistics)
  • Disrupted sleep schedules
  • Social interaction (often with complex relationships)
  • Financial stress (gifts, travel costs)
  • Expectation management
  • Being "on" for others

It's completely normal to need a vacation FROM your vacation.

Post-holiday fatigue is not failure. It's the natural consequence of an intense period, even if that period was supposed to be fun.

Try this reframe:

Instead of: "I should feel rested. What's wrong with me?"

Try: "That was a lot. My tiredness makes sense. I'll give myself time to recover."

Take this week slowly. Let yourself be tired. Don't rush back to full speed.

When rest eludes you, Stillness Cards help you find moments of peace.
