Songkran continues. Children are playing in the water, laughing without self-consciousness.
Today, let your inner child join them—literally or metaphorically.
Permission to play:
When was the last time you played? Not exercise. Not productivity disguised as recreation. Actual play—purposeless, joyful, silly.
Your inner child needs play. It's not childish—it's essential.
Play:
- Regulates the nervous system
- Releases dopamine and oxytocin
- Connects you to your body
- Returns you to present moment
- Heals old wounds of being told to "stop playing and grow up"
Today's playful assignment:
Do one thing purely for fun. Ideas:
- Get wet (if near water celebrations)
- Dance to music alone
- Color or draw without purpose
- Play a game (video, board, just any game)
- Build something with your hands
- Watch cartoons
- Sing loudly and badly
- Make silly faces at yourself
No outcome needed. No skill demonstrated. Just play.
Your inner child is waiting. Let them out.
When joy feels hard to access, Grief Compass Journal helps you find it.
