Words of Wisdom: Reparenting Yourself

Week 17: Reparenting Yourself

QuoteInner Child

"You have been criticizing yourself for years, and it hasn't worked. Try approving of yourself and see what happens."

— Louise Hay

"The greatest gift you can give yourself is a little bit of your own attention."

— Anthony J. D'Angelo

"At the core of your being, you already are all that you seek."

— Divya Darling

These teachers understood: the healing is an inside job.

You can't go back and change your parents. You can't undo the years of criticism or neglect. But you can—starting now—become the parent you needed.

This isn't about blame. It's about agency. Your past formed you, but it doesn't have to define you.

Your affirmation:

"I am becoming my own loving parent. I am learning to care for myself the way I deserved to be cared for all along."

Say it slowly. Let it land. Repeat it until it starts to feel true.

Grief Compass Journal supports your reparenting journey.
